Around 150 million years ago, during the Jurassic Period, this ammonite died in an iron-rich sea. This iron reacted with sulphur in the water forming iron pyrite which replaced the ammonite cell by cell.
The ammonite has been cut and polished to reveal open septum cavities lined with golden drusy pyrite crystals.
These fossils are extremely rare and make a truly fascinating pendant.
